Build in public, vol. 4

Happy belated Canada Day! I know what you're thinking... hey... I haven't seen one of these in my inbox in a while. Actually it's more likely you didn't notice the absence at all but for the sake my ego we'll pretend you did! ANYWAY, I realized that committing to a blog post bi-weekly wasn't allowing for good content because truthfully I wasn't getting much done in that time frame. So from now on these will be bi-bi-weekly (aka once a month). No tears please!!

What I'm working on

TW: Heinous photo blurring skills.

I'm ALMOST done with this one! I've made two versions with drastically different dimensions and I think the best version will lie somewhere in between the two. The bigger one was my original design, and then I wanted to print another one but I didn't have access to the file at the time so I made a whole new one with dimensions that I pretty much pulled out. of my ass (can I say that on a blog post?) but it ended up working super well! I also liked how the thinner edges & holder are visually less in the way of the papers, but it's not very sturdy or strong so I'll need one more iteration I think.

What I'm learning

I'm still learning how to use fusion! I keep jumping back to solidworks because I know it so well and I can work so much faster on it, but I know in the long run it's much better for me to learn fusion because it's cheaper and (supposed to be) easier for hobbyists like yours truly. In general it's also good to learn new things and exercise that brain of yours so I guess I'll keep trudging on, SIGH. Also trying to learn how to re-caulk my shower but that's not as relevant.

Where I'm stuck

I've been trying to make individual product pages for each of my creations once finished, but I don't have a great creative vision so I keep going in circles of how I want these pages to look. I know the best thing to do is just to make the pages and upload them because if I allow myself to nitpick it'll never get done.... and done is better than perfect! 👈😎👉 After all, this is all for fun so even after uploading I can change it as many times as my little heart desires.

I'm writing this from my bed while watching the (many) fireworks shows going on along the waterfront. I hope everyone had a great long weekend (weekend + Tuesday off?) and enjoyed the heat whewwww!
